Is John Proctor A Hero

I believe a hero is someone who at least once in their life does something courages and is noble. And for this reason I think that John Proctor is a hero. Some may argue that he was unfaithful to his wife, however nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. John realises this and feels guilty about his actions. He then shows courage by telling the court how he had been unfaithful, in hope to prove that Abigail's accusations were incorrect. Though this may seem petty, it takes a lot of courage to announce ones wrong doing to a court of people he knew. He also shows courage when he refuses to confess. Though he had the option to, and did considerate for some while, he finally decided he would rather take his life than be blamed for a crime he did not commit. One can not really explore in depth John Proctors motives, however the idea that he did not confess to save the rest of his community was a possibility. Either way though John Proctor may have been somewhat unfaithful to his wife at some point, he had learnt from his mistakes and matured over time, to become a hero who used courage to try save those wrongly accused, and gave his own life, firstly so he was not unfaithful to god, and finally cause it would save those still living in the community.
