What was the connections?

The play 'The Crucible' written by Arthur Miller, was most probably based on the happenings throughout the McCarthy era. There is evidence of clear connections and this includes the black listing of many famous writers and film makers due to belief they may have been working for the communist party, and therefor trying to portray messages through their media and written literature. This is similar to the play, in which many were accused of 'witchcraft' and trying to bewitch members of the Salem community. Arthur Miller, throughout his play, tries to get the message across about how innocent peoples lives were being affected due to wrong accusations, and this is shown in real life where members of the HUAC blame innocent people. In some sense, the girls throughout the play may have even been represented as the HUAC as both groups show no mercy in wrongly accusing those who may have intact been innocent. He may also have gotten some of his ideas of witchcraft, from previous historic events that had occurred throughout Salem.
